Origin
Bodegas Valdeviñas was created in 1999 by a Group of Companies linked to Agriculture and Ecology that, united around MIRAT, S.A. a company with more than 200 years of history, decided to start a project that, with a firm commitment to Quality and Exclusivity, is based on in a combination of Tradition and Technology.
In Soria, next to the border with Burgos, in the municipality of Langa de Duero, in the heart of the D.O. Ribera de Duero is where the Mirat family decides to establish their Project, on a terrain of boulders and sand, at more than 850 m. altitude and surrounded by 80 year old vines.
Philosophy
The elaboration follows the pattern of the great Bordeaux wines, adapted to the special characteristics of our grapes as a consequence of a different climate, altitude and soil. Our goal is to make great aging wines that allow us to discover and get to know... "the taste of time".
The Bordeaux technique in the Ribera del Duero
We elaborate following the Bordeaux tradition, this being one of the keys that characterizes us and differentiates us from the rest of the D.O. Ribera del Duero.
Emmanuel Ibars
Born in the Loire Valley, He studied viticulture and oenology in the Loire Valley and in Burgundy. Installed in the Ribera del Duero (Aranda de Duero) since 1992, he has worked as a winemaker in different projects in the Castilla y León area.
From the terroir and the meticulous work of the vineyard, it seeks to highlight the typicity and the great aging capacity of Tempranillo, to obtain great red wines for aging, taking advantage of its potential to achieve its structure, elegance, and a long journey.
Georges Pauli
George Pauli is one of the most prestigious flying winemakers in the world. Famous for his work on Chateau Gruaud-Larose (Bordeaux).
Agricultural Technical Engineer from the National School of Agricultural Technical Engineers of Bordeaux. Member of the Technical Commission of the Bordeaux Wine Interprofessional Committee since 1993 and founder of Sogevignes.
He has more than 30 years of experience advising wineries, his knowledge, acquired in different territories, has allowed him to contribute all his wisdom to the selection of our varieties and our production process, introducing new and interesting production methods.
